“I love to paint!”, “I want to be good at drawing!”… When did you first feel that? How did it all start?

I have enjoyed drawing since I was a kid. But the very thought of becoming good at drawing first occurred to me when I started working as a manga artist. Before that, I was simply drawing my favorite stuff for pleasure.

What was the first character you drew?

I was a huge fan of the cartoon called “The Powerpuff Girls,” so I used to pause the anime and try to replicate the characters on drawing paper.

When did you feel the urge to draw BL manga?

It was a friend of mine who told me about such a genre of manga as BL. I totally fell in love when I read it for the first time.

Is your manga usually born from the story?
Or do characters come to your mind first?

In my case, the concept of characters comes first. The story is born almost at the same time as each character’s life background is specified.

What are the moments you enjoy the most when creating manga?

The moment when have been able to draw my favorite moé scene.

What is the most challenging part when creating manga?

The moment when I draw and draw and draw, but the drawing still feels somewhat unfinished.

What parts are you most particular about when creating characters?

It’s definitely the facial expression!

What do you prefer to do when drawing manga?

I prefer to play some movie or drama I like in the background while drawing, but also like to listen to music or the radio during the process.

What does creating manga mean to you?

I would say that it’s a part of my life.

Where do you get inspiration from?

I find a lot of inspiration from the movies and dramas I watch. The conversations with my friends also inspire me a lot.

Is there anything you have been obsessed with these days?

These days I have been addicted to rhythm games.

Out of all BL character types, what is your favorite one?

I like bosses and older (than their partners) characters.

What is your favorite couple pairing in BL?

I’m totally a fan of a “cool boy & cute boy” pairing.

As a reader, what are your favorite story settings?

Speaking of BL, I prefer stories with sweet happy endings.

What do you think about the rising popularity of BL outside Japan?

As I’m a BL fan too, I’m genuinely happy that it keeps spreading all over the world.

Please leave a message to your fans.

Let’s enjoy life with BL together! If you have encountered some great manga, please spread the word about it!
